Air travels – a terrifying experience
It was a summer afternoon in 1992. I was on an Indian Airlines plane in the western part of the country, when I heard that I was not. 5-7 minutes agonizing yet afraid of me every time I look back.
Marketing as a profession needs a bit of “Voyage. I was based in Calcutta, the eastern part of the country. I was asked by my superior officer to accompany him while he was visiting a manufacturing plant Baroda is located in the extreme west.
We took a morning flight from Calcutta to 6:00 in the morning and reached Bombay (Mumbai, western India), around 09:30, we were booked for a flight to Baroda (Vadodara) from 15:30 on the same day . We finished our meal at the airport and took a stress free time at leisure.
We passed the security check in time and boarded the flight, which was a 30-40 minute flight. I took the window seat and took over my old room. The plane took off without difficulty. I looked out my window as we were on the Sea of Oman and will continue to do so before we took a right turn of Baroda.
Suddenly, I discovered that the hum of the engine was exceptionally low and I thought the pilot must have found technical reasons to use a single engine. Then there was the announcement by the pilot of the system of public information. His words were: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am your captain this fight. We have been informed by checking that there is a bomb on board. We’re back in Bombay periodic inspection, please do not reach prey panic. I can assure you that there is no such thing on board, and a simple phone hoax. Thank you. “
The timing of the announcement was complete, a terrible fear gripped my senses. Maybe anytime, oh What a situation! We could not do anything but pray to God that nothing happened. I thought of my children and I tried to distract the imagination of the incoming event and, of course, I prayed my God save us from this situation. I looked out the window and discovered that the plane was moving at the slowest speed! Inside, I saw my colleague experienced in his seat, eyes closed. Most of my co-travelers had their eyes closed. The hostess was right to air on the seat in front of us wiped off with a face, as if the whole blood was removed from his body. There was pin drop silence really, except the low humming sound of the engine of the aircraft.
I saw near the track, but very slowly, once more. The inner feeling is that this can happen at any time, no? How could this be possible? Questions and answers crossed my mind several times and I was powerless to pray and use my God.
Amid such mixed feelings, we touched the runway and within minutes after landing and the first thing I did was thank God with full reverence.
A few hours later we were sitting in the departure lounge for a special flight to Baroda in the same evening.
